Jacob L. Hollingsworth Pays homage for 15-Year Anniversary of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (MBDTF) is a Hip-Hop pillar and legendary album from Kanye West released on November 22nd, 2010. The album represented a new era of sonic blends that took all of Ye’s previous experience and experiments from ‘808 and Heartbreak’, ‘Graduation’, ‘Late Registration’ and ‘The College Dropout’ and blended them together to make a Hip-Hop Album that was beyond a simple “street sound”. The orchestrated and composed dynamics of the album pioneered a new image of Hip-Hop that led to the rock blends you heard on your radio through the 2010s and the current soft rock-rap blends you hear on your radio today from many pop artists. Many of these sounds are still being used in EDM, Dance and House music as well.

Many highly-touted artists appeared on the album from longtime partners, Jay-Z  and Rihanna, to newly rostered G.O.O.D Music artists. G.O.O.D Music, or Getting Out Our Dreams was the record label created by West signing many popular artists we know today such as 2 Chainz, Big Sean and many more. Even Travis Scott who was originally signed on as a Producer for the label in 2012. Many of these artists contributed to the MBDTF album in different ways.

The album was carefully marketed through a strategic marketing campaign called ‘GOOD Fridays’ in which Kanye carefully selected demos and full length tracks from the MBDTF archive and released them each Friday leading up to the release of the fifth studio album.

Though the context of the album still stands baffling to many audiences, the preconceived notions of Mr. West and the controversy prior to the release, especially regarding artist Taylor Swift, lifted the image of the album into an intriguing work of art that had to be consumed.

With that being said, Jacob decided to release a short tribute video for the release birthday of the album. The video has some dance, and adds more fun to the wonderment of the album giving his very own take on the fandom of the project.

Jacob chose the track heavily lyricized by Atlanta, Georgia’s CyHi Da Prince, ‘So Appalled’. A G.O.O.D Music artist signed by the label at this time who became highly respected and revered as an MC.

Jacob doesn’t show his Hip-Hop side too much but wants to do a tad bit more with Hip-Hop in 2026 even though he’s become adjacent to his experiences as a youth who fell in love with the culture. Hip-Hop isn’t something you do, it’s who you are. There will be another story on this at a later time. For now, enjoy the Instagram post from the dancing CEO paying homage to the project My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
