How do I apply for Medicare coverage? Your eligibility for Medicare is determined by federal government regulations. If you have worked for 40 quarters, you are eligible for Medicare Part A. You must enroll in Medicare Part B in order to receive Medicare Part C, otherwise known as Medicare Advantage coverage which is issued by private health insurers.
